The History of the Rebirth of Jacerepaguá
After just over ten years since its creation, under the presidency of Antônio Salomão, the association managed to achieve a place in 2005 in the then called Access Group A, currently classified as Series A, equivalent to the second division of the Rio de Janeiro carnival. Its debut in the group was positively evaluated by the specialized media, with special emphasis on the grandiose floats developed by the new carnival designer in the association, Lane Santana.
The years 2006 and 2007 were essential in the process of acquiring experience for the school team in parades at Marquês de Sapucaí.
After a quick period of adaptation in the group, in 2008 the school invited actress Nívea Stelmann to take the position of drum queen. That year, the group reached fourth place, its best placement in the group and in its entire competitive trajectory in the carnival.
In 2009, with a plot about means of transport entitled How Are You Going, Are You Going Well? Did You Come by Foot or by Train? by carnival artists Paulo Barros and Paulo Menezes, the school from Jacarepaguá achieved second place in Access Group A. In the soundIn the final, the club lost the title by just seven tenths to the champion União da Ilha.
In 2010, carnival designer Paulo Barros remained in charge of the artistic direction of the school's carnival, this time forming a partnership with Wagner Gonçalves. The theme chosen for that year was called Aquaticopólis, in homage to the theme created by Fernando Pinto in 1987 for Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel. The presentation was well-received by the judges, but technical flaws that did not comply with the rules, especially in the Front Commission category, resulted in the loss of a few tenths that took the school from yet another hypothetical runner-up position to eighth place.
For 2011, the school's team had initially confirmed the permanence of carnival designer Paulo Barros, who would form part of a carnival committee together with professionals Gustavo Melo, Tatiana de Mello, Alexandre Brites and Jorge Maciel.[3]. However, Paulo Barros acted only as a consultant, indicating carnival designer Edson Pereira to develop the aesthetics of the school's parade. As in the previous year, water appeared as the central theme in the theme, called Águas de Março. The theme paid homage to the eight cities of the so-called Circuito das Águas. The parade was well-received and the school won the Access Group championship, earning the right to parade the following year in the prestigious Special Group for the first time in its history. A controversy, however, marked the championship: members of other groups accused carnival designer Edson Pereira of using a sculpture presented the previous year by Acadêmicos do Salgueiro, which violated the rules. The complaint was disregarded by the association that ran the Access Group A carnival at the time, LESGA.
In 2012, the school kept the same team that had organized the previous year's carnival. The chosen theme was a tribute to the artist Romero Brito. In its debut in the Special Group, the school finished in last place, being relegated for the first time in its short history.
