ONDE AQUECE A INSPIRAÇÃO É LUZ
É VIDA, VENTO, BRISA A BEIRA MAR
OUVINDO POESIAS DE RAQUEL
SUSPIRO NAS HISTÓRIAS DE ALENCAR
E HOJE DESFOLHANDO MEU CORDEL
DAS LENDAS QUE OUVI NO CEARÁ
É DOCE É FOGO, SABOR E PRAZER
AROMA NO AR, PLANTAR E COLHER
EU MOLDEI NO BARRO
AS RECORDAÇÕES QUE VIVI COM VOCÊ
VIOLEIRO TOCA MODA À LUZ DO LUAR
SANFONEIRO PUXA O FOLE E
CONVIDA A DANÇAR
VOU PEDIR A PADIM CIÇO
ABENÇOE NOSSO POVO
ESSA FÉ VAI NOS GUIAR
CHÃO RACHADO, MEU SERTÃO
PEÇO A DEUS PRA ALUMIAR
TERRA SECA QUE NÃO SECA A ESPERANÇA
ARRETADA VOCAÇÃO DE TE AMAR
O SAL DA TERRA SEGUE O MEU DESTINO
SANGUE NORDESTINO SEMPRE A ME ORGULHAR
A NATUREZA CANTADA EM MEUS VERSOS
TRADUZ A BELEZA DESSE MEU LUGAR
LINDA MORENA, VESTIU-SE DE AMOR
TECEU A VIDA COM FIOS DOURADOS
EU DE CHAPÉU DE COURO E GIBÃO
ENFEITEI O MEU CORAÇÃO
E NA MODA, DESFILO AO SEU LADO
VIXI MARIA! A ILHA A CANTAR
TRANÇANDO EM MEUS VERSOS A MINHA ALEGRIA
MENINA RENDEIRA ME ENSINA A BORDAR
NO CÉU EMOÇÃO, NO CHÃO SIMPATIA
The União da Ilha do Governador shares the desire to take to the Avenida in 2019 aa playful and pleasurable proposal that approaches popular culture and education. We will address, with words, verses and memories, the celebration of the meeting between two exponents of Brazilian literature in the plot:"THE POETIC SKIN BETWEEN RACHEL AND ALENCAR IN THE RIGHT OF HEAVEN".The lines that plot their stories reveal past knowledge from father to son and haunts that populate the popular imagination of this land surrounded by sea, but with the ground framed by the drought of the backlands. Faith wrapped in prayer and celebrated to the sound of the accordion and the cordel. Poems that invade the dreams with an own accent of a people that fight for the smile and the happiness. Shared joy: "I'm Brazilian, I'm a goat of the plague, I'm from the northeast, I'm from Ceará"
The União da Ilha do Governador held some time between the second and third groups and in 1974, when it was champion of the second group, gained access to the main group from the following year.
From 1977, with the story "Domingo", 1980, when it was in second place with the story "Bom, Bonito e Barato", the União da Ilha made good parades. The samba "É hoje" (1982), is one of the best known and re-recorded in the history of Carnival. The school took light, cheap and lively parades to Sapucaí. This would be the trademark of the União da Ilha, maintained until today. Their costumes are usually light, without great splendor, facilitating the parade for the component. The school also gets a good communication with the public, being considered one of the most sympathetic of the carioca carnival. "Amanhã" was the 1978 samba-plot, and in this year it was recorded by Elizeth Cardoso, but it was with the first recording of Simone in 1983 (CD Deliriums and Delights and re-recorded on CD Simone live) that she popularized
In recent years, the most remembered parade of the União da Ilha was in 1989. The samba-enredo "Festa Profana" brought the refrain "I'm going to take a piece of happiness, I'm going to shake I'm going to make fun of all the city". This samba is sung until today in the four corners of the country. That year, the school ranked third. It is believed that the school would have lost the carnival because the drums' section had paraded without hats.
In 1991, the school paid homage to Didi, the poet who won 22 samba-plot matches. The samba brought the verses "Today I'm going to take a drunk, I do not help, that I'm happy" and "Bebo comes bebo vai, that does not tide, rocks but does not fall, bohemian is", besides sentences like "Waiter, waiter put a very cold bog here on the table. " Without a doubt, a great carnival under the voice of the great master Aroldo Melodia.
The last good result was obtained in 1994, with "Abrakadabra", in which it reached in fourth place, its last participation in the Champions' Parade. Since then, it has not been getting good ratings.
1995 was the last year of Aroldo Melodia as interpreter and besides that the Ilha ended up not having the same result of the previous year, being in the 9th place. The following year Aroldo had a stroke, and the interpreter becomes his son, Ito Melodia, who has the same tone of voice as his father.
Parade of 98 that brought for the first time to Cacuia the Gold Standard of better plot.
In 1997 the Ilha comes to talk about the wonderful city a dream of Pereira Passos, but the Iha was not happy in the part of the open wings, did not come and the lack of money that already hit several schools like the Estacio de Sá that fell that year. In short, the Iha was in 12th place, almost falling for Preliminary group. Many critics condemned the choice of this plot, because the former Mayor Pereira Passos expelled a large portion of the deprived population of his time from downtown and being the schools of samba fruit of the creation of this segment of the population honoring this personality would not be something comfortable.
In 1998 Ito Melodia leaves the school, entering in its place Rixxah, ex-Portela. The União spoke of Fatumbi, the Ilha de Todos os Santos. But one of the Indians of the second allegory collapsed before the parade begins because of a heavy prop and a crack in the neck of the prop, causing the school to be impaired. In that year the Iha was in 9th place with 255.0.
In 1999 the Ilha suffers a fire in its studio near the carnival. Even so he remade the cars and managed to parade, being in 10th place with a total of 253.0.
In 2000, with "Pra não dizer que não falei das flores", the União da Ilha came in eighth place, addressing one of the most hazy periods of Brazil's 500 years: the military dictatorship, from 1964 to 1985.
In 2001, bringing Wander Pires as an Interpreter, it presented the story "A União Faz a Força", in spite of the exciting parade, the precariousness of some allegories, which made the school second only to the Tuiuti Paradise that year.
In 2002, back to the Preliminary group, talking about the city of Duque de Caxias, made a beautiful parade, and was highly praised, but failed to reach the first place remaining in Preliminary group, even having paraded in the same group with his sister minor Boi da Ilha, also having the return of the interpreter Ito Melodia for the School, where it remains until nowadays.
In 2003, honoring the writer Maria Clara Machado, candidate for the title, only obtains the vice championship.
From 2004 to 2008 he had ups and downs with a lack of resources, making parades to keep up. In spite of this, in 2005 it gained the vice-championship of Preliminary group.
In 2008, even without much resources, the school made a powerful parade, and reedited the "É hoje", which earned him the fifth place.
In 2009, the insular school chose the plot "Viajar é preciso - viagens extraordinárias através de mundos conhecidos e desconhecidos" by the carnivalesque Jack Vasconcelos, becoming the carnival champion of Preliminary group with 239.9 points, returning after his in 2001, to the Panel in 2010.
After 9 years in the Island Union Accession Group, he returned to the Main group.
