Samba Lyrics

VIVER E NÃO TER A VERGONHA DE SER FELIZ CANTAR E CANTAR E CANTAR
A BELEZA DE SER UM ETERNO APRENDIZ.
 AH MEU DEUS! EU SEI,
EU SEI QUE A VIDA DEVIA SER
BEM MELHOR E SERÁ MAS ISSO NÃO IMPEDE
QUE EU REPITA É BONITA,
É BONITA E É BONITA
E A VIDA E A VIDA O QUE É? DIGA LÁ, MEU IRMÃO
ELA É A BATIDA DE UM CORAÇÃO ELA É UMA DOCE ILUSÃO

ÊH! ÔH! E A VIDA ELA É MARAVILHA OU É SOFRIMENTO?
ELA É ALEGRIA OU LAMENTO? O QUE É? O QUE É?
EU IRMÃO HÁ QUEM FALE QUE A VIDA DA GENTE
É UM NADA NO MUNDO É UMA GOTA, É UM TEMPO

QUE NEM DÁ UM SEGUNDO HÁ QUEM FALE
QUE É UM DIVINO MISTÉRIO PROFUNDO É O SOPRO DO CRIADOR
NUMA ATITUDE REPLETA DE AMOR VOCÊ DIZ QUE É LUTA E PRAZER
ELE DIZ QUE A VIDA É VIVER ELA DIZ QUE MELHOR É MORRER
POIS AMADA NÃO É E O VERBO É SOFRER EU SÓ SEI QUE CONFIO NA MOÇA
E NA MOÇA EU PONHO A FORÇA DA FÉ SOMOS NÓS QUE FAZEMOS A VIDA

COMO DER, OU PUDER, OU QUISER SEMPRE DESEJADA
POR MAIS QUE ESTEJA ERRADA NINGUÉM QUER A MORTE
SÓ SAÚDE E SORTE E A PERGUNTA RODA E A CABEÇA AGITA
EU FICO COM A PUREZA DA RESPOSTA DAS CRIANÇAS
É A VIDA, É BONITA E É BONITA

"O que é, o que é?"

Abstract

"What about life?

And life, what is it, my brother?"

Have you ever stopped to wonder about it? We believe so.

Would Life only exist? Would it be only love, work, creating, accumulating and winning or only suffering and pain?

Would it be joy or regret? Would it be fighting and pleasure?

Would it be all together or none of this?

The question catches us by surprise. It makes us stop to think, it forces us to reflect.

Would life be an adventure? If it is, feel, love, laugh, cry, play, win, lose, trip, but get up and move on. Always! And what do you do with your life? It is you who does it, the decisions are yours. It is your will that sets what you will be!

Make it a frenzy, an illusion, a dream, but turn it all into reality, without fears! After all, it can take different directions, but it is you who chooses how you will face them.

Now take some time to think about what life is for you, because for us, the Império Serrano, it is to never lose joy, to renew faith in the world and in people. For us, to live is to sing, sing, sing ... and never be ashamed to be happy! For us life is beautiful, beautiful and beautiful!

Império Serrano's history

In its first parade, the school became champion, in the year of 1948, year in which there was not yet the division of the Carnival between main group and inferior divisions. However, the political dispute between the representative entities UGES and FBES began to emerge, with the Império being affiliated with the latter. Only schools affiliated to the FBES would have received public funds, a retaliation from the municipal power to the proximity between UGES (after UGESB) and PCB.

The presence of Irênio Delgado, considered by Portela and Mangueira as a sympathizer of the Império Serrano, deepened the division, leading to the organization of more than one competition in the following three years, one for each representative entity (UGESB, FBES and the ephemeral UCES, which only lasted a year). In the contest of the FBES, the Império Serrano won in the three years, obtaining the consecutive tetra-championship.

With the reunification of the carnival in 1952 from the creation of AESCRJ, there was no judgment of the parades of the main group of that year, which made that only in its sixth carnival the school of the Serrinha did not conquer the title, being runner-up in 1953 and 1954. He won again in 1955 and 1956, positioning itself from then on as one of the most traditional forces of the Carioca Carnival of that time, alongside Portela, Mangueira and Salgueiro.

In 1975 the school chose as a plot "Zaquia Jorge, Vedete do Subúrbio, Estrela de Madureira", the internal dispute being won by the composer Avarese. However, the samba that was in second place, composed by Acyr Pimentel and Cardoso, ended up being recorded by Roberto Ribeiro under the title "Estrela de Madureira", and became a samba classic, and also a kind of school anthem, becoming much more famous than the winning samba of that year.

In 1978 among the 10 samba schools of Main Group, Império Serrano finished in seventh position and with this suffered its first relegation of history.

In the year 1981, the book "Serra, Serrinha, Serrano: the Império do Samba", by Raquel Valença and Suetônio Valença, has been published, until today considered a reference on the history of the school. In that same year the school was in last place.

In 1982, the singer Clara Nunes recorded Serrinha (samba in homage to the school), written by Mauro Duarte and Paulo César Pinheiro.

Also in the 1980s, the school had great moments with plots created by Fernando Pamplona, developed by other carnavalescos, like Bumbum Praticumbum Prugurundum, of 1982, when the carnavalescas Rosa Magalhães and Licia Lacerda gave Império Serrano its last title of the first division, After a ten-year fast, "Mãe Baiana Mãe" (1983), "Eu Quero" (1986), "Com a boca no mundo, quem não se comunica se trumbica" (1987).

In the 1990s, the school faced serious domestic policy problems that led to three downgrades (1991, 1997, 1999). The Império returned to the carnival elite in 2001, but still remained struggling to remain in the Main Group. In that year, he brought a samba by Arlindo Cruz, Maurizio, Carlos Sena and Elmo Caetano, which was considered by critics as the most beautiful of the year, and which told the story of the Resistance, as it was called the Union of the Stevedores of Rio de Janeiro, to which several of the first members of the school were linked. But a defect in the main allegorical car, formed by a container that would open during the parade, destroyed the surprise that the school had prepared, which certainly must have taken precious points.

In 2004, the Império reissued "Aquarela Brasileira", considered one of the most beautiful sambas-plot of the history, and even with financial problems and internal disputes, raised the public in Sambódromo, but finishing far from the title in the final classification.
